GeoLab is a GA initiative to help local geological groups, museums and other societies attract, entertain and inform non-geologists about the big ideas of geology in the course of one day. It also shows them their local geology – even in the middle of a town!
The wax volcano is just one of the many demonstrations and hands-on activities in a GeoLab morning session run by a trained Earth Science educator.
In the afternoon, there is a local field visit or town trail organised by the local geology group. It is great to see people looking at familiar buildings and road cuttings with completely new eyes!
GeoLab is open to all, and families with school age children are very welcome.
